Phased Approach

The following phases broadly define the proposed implementation of our programs:

Phase 1 : (2004 – 2007 ) :  Pilot Project in Vizag (Visakhapatnam) , India

  • Support the establishment of the first pilot center in Visakhapatnam (Vizag), India.
  • Development of a portable model (blueprint) for Vision Enhancement and
Rehabilitation Services suitable for under-served regions in developing countries.
  • Begin Implementation of awareness programs

The first phase has already commenced in August 2004, and is in full steam and
many
people are already benefiting fro it.

Phase 2 (2007 – 2010) :Begin Expansion to other locations within India

  • Solicit application for grants from non-profit organizations in other under-served
areas in India. Vision-Aid aims to provide financial support for helping in the
creation and operation of five low vision rehabilitation centers in different under-
served locations in India by 2010. Financial support will be provided in the form of
    matching grants to partner organizations.
  • Continue to implement programs to augment awareness about Low Vision
    Rehabilitation issues.

Phase 3: July 2010 – July 2020 : Accelerate Expansion

  • Accelerate the spread of  Low Vision Rehabilitation Centers. Continue to invite
application for grants from partners in other under-served areas in both India and
in other developing countries where such a need is greatest. Vision-Aid aims to
support the creation and operation of fifteen centers in India by 2020.
  • Continue to implement programs to improve awareness about Vision
    Rehabilitation and strengthen accessibility initiatives

This ambitious plan is subject entirely to available financial resources and on the
support we receive from you. At this time Vision-Aid has no major corporate supporters
and we rely totally on
individual support to accomplish our goals.
