Our Mission

Our mission is to help people who suffer from Vision related disabilities in under-served
areas, lead a life of independence and dignity.

Our Vision

Our vision  is to facilitate the creation of a large network of vision rehabilitation centers
in under-served areas of India by 2020 (in alignment with the WHO Vision 2020
initiative). These centers shall offer  high quality vision rehabilitation services on a non
profitable and charitable basis, to help visually impaired people reach their fullest
potential.

Serving the Under-Served...

For its grant programs and throughout this web-site, Vision-Aid generally defines
"under-served" areas as geographical regions initially in  India, and later in other
developing countries,  where there are presently no Secondary or Tertiary facilities
dedicated to Vision Rehabilitation. (For a definition of Secondary and Tertiary standard
services of Low Vision Rehabilitation Centers, please refer to the the publication by the
World Health Organization / IAPB working group, 2003).

The
leadership team fully realizes that the long term vision outlined here is an ambitious
one in terms of its scope and reach. To succeed in this mission, Vision-Aid will need the
support and cooperation of many like minded organizations and individuals. We feel
fortunate that in a relatively short span of time, we have already found many
friends to
and welcome anyone interested in partnering with us in this regard to
contact us.

Implementation of Vision-Aids programs will happen is
three phases.
